After setting up your brand new roll-offs
You go to pull the cord, and nothing happens!
The problem is, is that the lens surface is so new, the film sticks to it
To overcome this, take a piece of toilet paper(not used preferably)and run it under the film the whole way along the lens
What happens is, some of the tiny fibres get left behind and is enough to let the film roll across without sticking
Don't worry though, it's not enough to let mud get underneath
After you've used them a few times, they shouldn't stick anymore
Have fun

Introduction to the world of Freedom7motox
What an amazing week last week
Started off on Thursday at Zack Seifert's grassy track on the side of a hill in glorious sunshine
Just one of those magical English days
As the track is fairly new it was quite slippery to start because here were no ruts
I love this kind of riding, gets you back into the core of riding
All about the finesse of throttle control and body placement for equal traction between the front and rear end
I added a new section to the track that came down the hill on a 35% angle, braking and turning on a camber and then back up the hill
Classic old-school section
As it started to rut up you could be a little bit more aggressive on the throttle and lean into it
It was a pleasure coaching Zack as he is a very intelligent rider and we talked a lot about the psychology or riding
He even came to the track with a solid idea of what he wanted to work on that day
Very impressive
Because of this, he was a fast learner and applied those techniques with a natural flow
His speed and style(which was good from the beginning)had vastly improved by the end of the day
Even Josh(Zack's friend)got to put in some good laps at the end of the day
Well another great day down in Street with Brian and Mark at there practice track. It started off with about 2 hours of strimming(thanks to Gavin at Brandon Hire for hooking me up a great price) the long grass, thistles and such. Marking out some new lines to play with. Then on to testing the new mods. See HERE for mods info.
After about a month of running 3 times a week, some core and weight workouts, Im starting to feel a bit more comfortable on the bike. More in unison and flowing. That enabled me to concentrate a bit more on the power characteristics. Power wise the bike is feeling a lot more balanced. Like I said in earlier post, now the usable powerband is in the 40-90% range. This makes riding a lot more manageable and pleasing. When the power comes in, it does so in the lower ranges and pulls smoothly through to the top and seems to really dig in to the dirt gaining great traction. It's a lot easier to control the front end and lift it when needed, even when hard on the gas. So, engine wise, Im feeling really confident in it. Braking is another thing. Not sure if the back brake is not quite adjusted to right height, boots need running in more or maybe just a rebuild of caliper and bleeding! Got quite a lot of arm pump in my biceps, which is a new one on me. Going to have to change my workout a bit I think. Lots to work on, but hey, that's the fun.
It was great to see Brian and Mark again as it had been a while. As they had ridden the Weymoth Beach race, their bikes were currently stripped down for an overhaul. So they rolled out Marks' 1991 CR 250 project, which was great to see. We all managed to get in some good riding. Obviously at this time of year the evenings are against us. But anytime on the bike is good time.
Looking forward to getting together with them and the other guys at the High Ham charity event that is happening on Nov 5th. So hopefully I'll see you there. Please come over an introduce yourselves as it would be great to add more riders to my facebook and have more friends to ride with. Maybe I''l catch you at The Dirt Bike show. Take care for now
Paul
P.S. Forgot to say a big thanks to Dad for bike tech and looking after my baby on ride days. x
So, after being out on her a couple of times I found that she was only hitting the powerband between about 60-80% then dropping off. This had to be rectified. After some research online, there were a couple of mods that could be done.
1. Drill out the airbox to get more air in
2. Substitute the airbox intake boot from a 2005 CR 125
3. Put in a V Force reed block
4. Machine a pin that stopped the exhaust valve from closing some of the way
5. Get it ported
6. Buy some exhaust spacers
7. Change the gearing
As I wanted to keep costs down and this is information that I want others to be able to use, this was the plan
From there it was on to Brian and Marks' private track. They have a lovely hidden track that is on a peaty soil. Great berms, some whoops in places, nice straights which are just the right kind of bumpy, jumps and perfect up on the pegs drifting corners. And on top of that, they are the nicest guys you could meet. So many thanks Brian and Mark for me offering me the chance to come and ride.
I feel I'm starting to get back in the flow of things, getting my fitness up and working the bike a lot more. Had to harden up the front forks a little as they were bottoming-out too easily. We had also drilled out the airbox to get some more air in her and worked the jetting some. Now she is like a rocket. A little tweak to the gearing ratios and I think we'll be quite close.
It was the first time in about 20 years, that both my Mother and Father came along to motocross. Reminded me of the good old days when my grandparents used to come too.
